lies 8 km off the Panamericana along the road. It has a colorful Sunday market and the surrounding countryside areas are
inviting for a pleasant walk. Accommodation El
Forastero.- Good food. Located on the corner of Flores and Olmedo. Residencial.- Located
on Flores street. Bus Cooperativa
Oriental from Ibarra, leaves every 20 minutes, taking 45 minutes to El Chota. Ticket value around US$0.70; same
as Expreso Turismo with offices on Pedro Moncayo and Flores. Around
Pimampiro 20 Km from Pimampiro is the village of Sigsigpamba with no accommodation
available and only a few basic shops. We are mentioning this town because it is the best access to the Puruanta
lake, a very exciting four to five hours hike. The lake is set between the high paramo with charming surroundings
for camping and trout fishing. Avoid hiking in the rainy season (November to May). The Mariano Acosta village is nearby. | |
