Km. Lined with a chain of active volcanos with the highest peak (Wolf volcano), at 1,700 m. Isabela is not totally developed for tourism, only the western side of the island, which is reached after a 220 Km journey from Santa Cruz. Not many tourists visit this Island, though it has the largest
colony of Galapagos tortoises and the Beach is beautifully set with coconut palms and a good selection of small seafood restaurants offering the big red lobster throughout the whole year. Centro de Crianza (a breeding center of giant tortoises), is some 35 minutes' walk from Puerto Villamil.Muro de las Lágrimas (a historical place), by horse, is about 2 hours each way. Las Grietas, an interesting site where you'll be able to see the white-tipped sharks. Local fishermen will arrange a trip for around US$10 per boat. (Always bargain) ActivitiesSnorkeling, can be practiced east of the port. Surf, there are beautiful beaches to practice this sport west of Puerto
